John Quincy Adams enters into a full exposition of the domestic policy of the country, taken as one connected system, and he explains the principles of domestic policy of the United States, founded upon one general basis, which is not divisible. It is for all citizens, especially those living in the “free States”. Title page stamped “American antiquarian Society” to corner, lightly soiled, which also includes back paper wrap. Very Good +. Aiken, William A. Presentation Book (Portfolio) For Civil
Affairs Division of the WAR DEPARTMENTin Washington D. C., gathered by Major
William A. Aiken, G-2-OWI Liaison Officer, Washington Liaison Branch.(All
original material) Although intended for the War Department, this portfolio was
obviously not seen by the government, since it is still in private hands. A
unique item; Blue Portfolio (16 X 12 inches), 54 leaves, [108] pages, with
material to both sides. These include, News Papers & clippings from Turkey,
Syria, France, French Equatorial Africa, & Spain, Mimeographs & typed sheets of
war information and Allied policies from radio and print medias, original glossy
photographs with typed captions (some of these photographs are also shown as
newspaper clippings), Army Guide Books. There is also a page with a photograph
of a Tiny Filipina girl, a plastic plate which was used for the newspaper copy
and an example of the finished product. 3 of the photographs have fallen from
their designated place, but all are present. Newspapers have yellowed, with
minor tears, some light foxing to the edges of several of the pages. OWI sticker
to the front is chipped. Created in 1942, The Office of War Information (OWI),
served as an important U.S. government propaganda agency during World War II.
During 1942 -43, the agency contained two photographic units: [1] a section
headed by Roy Emerson Stryker [2] The News Bureau (these units were merged in
1943). The photographers in both units documented America's mobilization during
the early years of World War II. Between 1944 and 1947 thousands of items were
transferred to the Library of Congress by OWI. These items had been used in the
agency's support of the war effort, and included: sound recordings, photographs,
and a small number of research papers. Better than Very Good. $300
